Description
This nineteenth issue of the Biblical Higher Education Journal continues to support the mission of biblical higher education by providing a venue for publication of related research and a forum for thought and dialogue regarding the issues, trends, opportunities, and challenges facing biblical higher education.
This volume contains two articles and four book reviews. The first article was contributed by Sarah J. Bracey of Welch College. She summarizes and highlights key points of the educational philosophy of Abraham Kuyper, a Dutch theologian, philosopher, and politician of the 19th century whose ideas remain influential and relevant to this day. The second article was contributed by Jason B. Palmer of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. He shares the results of research he conducted among Baptist colleges and universities in Texas about the nature and content of their mission statements. Although his study did not focus specifically on ABHE schools, the information he provides can offer guidance for ABHE schools as they seek to comply with Standard 1, Essential Elements 8-10, which relate to the development, publication, and implementation of mission statements.
The four book reviews in this volume cover a range of important topics and issues related to biblical higher education, including the need for a Christian worldview in a secular culture, the New Testament evidence for women in leadership, the development of multinational teams to work in cross-cultural settings, and cultivation of mentors in Christian higher education.
