ABHE Bible Exam – Notice of Transition

Effective August 1, 2020 the current ABHE Bible Exam will no longer be available.

The decades old ABHE Bible Exam is being discontinued. After a year-long development process involving many scholars across the Association, we are delighted to announce the launch of our new ABHE Bible Knowledge Exam as of August 1, 2020.

Access to the new exam will be a complimentary membership benefit for all ABHE member institutions, available for assessing the Bible knowledge of all incoming and graduating students. Institutions who are not members of ABHE may purchase the new exam directly through CLT.

Institutions will have access to the new exam via this website on this launch date with a link directly to the test registration site, administered by our testing partner, CLI (who administer the Classic Learning Test). Test results will be immediately available to students and institutional test cohort results will be provided to each institution’s proctor. ABHE will publish aggregate test results allowing participating institutions to compare their student’s performance with our international norms.

Since this test is completely different from the current ABHE Bible Exam, comparative scores between the two tests would not be a reliable measurement of learning outcomes. Historic information from prior testing years will no longer be available effective August 1, 2020. Therefore, institutions who have used the old ABHE Bible Exam should archive their test results from previous testing before the current exam site closes.

May I also invite you to join with me in expressing our sincere gratitude to Hobby Lobby and the family of David Green who has provided major funding to make this revision possible.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. We are eager to see how this new ABHE Bible Knowledge Exam will measure the caliber of real Bible knowledge gained by students through their engagement in biblical higher education. It’s our promise . . . and we want to know how well we deliver.
