2016 Summary Retrospective

Delegates gathered for ABHE’s 69th Annual Meeting February 10-12, 2016 at the Wyndham Orlando Resort. This event serves as the rallying point and official gathering for some 200 Canadian and American institutions of biblical higher education. Over 400 leaders of our movement—delegates, exhibitors, presenters and other guests—experienced this unique annual opportunity to connect, confer and sharpen their leadership gifts and abilities. Our 2016 theme: Seeking Biblical Clarity in an Age of Sexual Confusion, called delegates to examine our commitment to biblical and missional higher education in the face of increasingly clamorous cultural upheaval in the realm of sexuality and sexual ethics. Plenary speakers, Christopher Yuan and Peter Jones, offered cultural and theological insight concerning the theme and then participated in a plenary panel discussion capably moderated by Kuyper College President, Nicholas Kroeze. In both plenary and workshop settings, Barna Group President, David Kinnaman provided an overview of research design & methodology, data, and preliminary observations associated with the major 2015 ABHE-Barna market research study. Barna Group announced plans for mid-2016 publication of a special monograph featuring deeper data analysis and findings. The Robert E. Weber Institute for Worship Studies President, James Hart, skillfully and sensitively led delegates in uplifting times of worship and singing. At the Thursday evening banquet, Dr. William Boyd was honored as the 2016 recipient of ABHE’s Biblical Higher Education Award.  Enjoy the 2016 Annual Meeting video recap, member institution montage, as well as plenary addresses below.
