Accreditation Processes

ABHE accreditation includes a set of review and monitoring processes that work together across the life of an institution’s relationship with the Commission. Not every institution will experience every process. Some are part of normal annual or cyclical review, while others apply only when an institution proposes a significant change, opens a new location, responds to specific concerns, or needs to plan for continuity of student learning during disruption or closure.

When to contact the Commission

Contact the Commission early at coa@abhe.org whenever your institution is considering a significant change, facing an emerging challenge, or unsure whether a situation requires notification, approval, or additional planning. Early communication helps institutions understand the right process, avoid delays, and address concerns before they become larger compliance issues.
