Verification Visits

A Verification Visit is designed to confirm that an approved change has actually been implemented as proposed. ABHE uses the visit to verify that the location or approved change has the personnel, facilities, resources, and oversight described in the substantive change proposal and that the change does not compromise institutional stability or quality.

Visit types

Verification visits are most commonly required for new or relocated additional locations and new or relocated branch campuses. They may also be required for a relocated main campus, a change in ownership or control in certain cases, federal Prison Education Program sites, or other approved changes where ABHE determines that on-site confirmation is needed because of the scale, complexity, or risk of the change. How to prepare

Institutions should prepare the practical evidence that shows the approved change is operating as described. This usually includes relevant policies, current course and program lists, staffing and faculty information, resource and technology access, student-services information, site-specific materials, authorization documentation, and evidence that the main campus exercises appropriate oversight and supervision. ABHE’s policies also indicate that institutions should be ready to document changes since the approved proposal, including changes in resources, services, structure, or operations.
