Position Overview:
  • The Director of Retention Services serves a key role to enhance Toccoa Falls College in achieving the mission of developing Christian servant leaders who will impact their world with the love and message of Jesus Christ.
  • She/he will be responsible for giving vision, leadership, direction, assessment, evaluation and coordination of services and programs for the student development department.
  • She/he will be responsible for a comprehensive student leadership program (1) consistent with the philosophy of the Division of Student Development, (2) promote the learning outcomes articulated in the strategic initiatives of the Division, (3) integrate with academic and co-curricular programs, (4) and aligning with biblical principles for servant leadership.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Identify best practices and implement strategies for student leadership development within Division of Student Development;
  • Serve as hearing officer for cases related to campus disciplinary procedures;
  • Serve as advisor to develop, implement and maintain campus judicial system;
  • Mentor Student Government Association leadership for personal leadership development and achieve goals of SGA;
  • Supervise and coordinate all co-curricular activities sponsored by student organizations and SGA;
  • Serve as communication and coord ination resource to all areas of campus programming designed to achieve the college's mission of developing Christian servant leadership;
  • Oversee expectations of those students receiving the TFC Leadership Scholarship;
  • To research and implement return of societies for campus life and student leadership development.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Judgment & Decision Making - considering the relative costs and benefits of actions;
  • Financial Resources Management - Determining how to effectively spend money, and accounting for these expenditures;
  • Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems;
  • Communication - proven verbal and written communication;
  • Spiritually mature Christian in agreement with the college statement of faith and committed to the vision, mission and values of Toccoa Falls College;
  • Consider themselves a change agent and have knowledge of the change process in organizations;
  • Team building and human resource management;
  • Proficiency in computer software programs.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION:

  •  Master's degree in Education or related field required.
  • Candidate must have proven knowledge of student development theories.
  • The candidate must have a commitment to understanding diversity issues in retention.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  •  Must be able to climb steps, lift files and boxes weighing up to 25 pounds, and travel by car or van with various college groups.
