To play an active role in achieving the departmental objective of developing consistent positive enrollment patterns for the institution.

Job Summary: The Director of Seminary Admissions is a member of the Providence College and Theological Seminary Admissions Department. This is a full-time, non-contract position of 12 months per year. The Director of Seminary Admissions works together with the V.P. for Student Services and in cooperation with the Director of College Admissions to develop and implement the overall recruitment strategy for Providence College and Theological Seminary.

Primary Responsibilities:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1.  To develop, execute, maintain and evaluate the overall Seminary Admissions Strategy. The admissions strategy will include involvement with institutional events, athletics, Fine Arts, alumni and faculty.
  2. To ensure that records regarding inquiries and applicants are well maintained and improved for proper comparison and growth.
  3. To oversee the organization of an itinerary of visits to colleges, universities, churches, conferences and festivals for the travelling Admissions Staff within the Seminary Admissions Strategy. Special attention should be given to developing relationship with influencers such as pastors, denominational representatives, and career counsellors.
  4. To organize, balance and execute the travel and office schedules of the Seminary Admissions Office, including the banked time of staff members.
  5. To attend Seminary Faculty meetings and relay necessary information to Seminary Admissions Office.
  6. To make monthly Seminary Admissions reports on inquiries and applications.
  7. To oversee the organization of activities that bring potential students to campus. These activities could include Day on Campus events, receptions and campus tours.
  8. To oversee the Seminary Enrolment Assistants and be involved in telephone follow-up.
  9. To attend special conventions and meetings as required, representing PC/PTS.
  10. To understand thoroughly the educational programs at PC/PTS and to provide academic advice to future students.
  11. To attend, plan and implement Professional Development activities within the Admissions Office.
  12. To initiate yearly evaluation of Seminary Admissions Staff.
  13. To oversee the Seminary Admissions Budget and the allocation of its funds.
  14. To oversee the Seminary Admissions Committee in the processing of seminary applications.
Qualifications:
  1. A commitment to Theological education and to Christian ministry. The Director of Seminary Admissions will encourage and promote potential students to consider the possibilities of a Seminary education at Providence Theological Seminary.
  2. The Director of Seminary Admissions, as a representative of the institution, must affirm the Covenant of Faith and the Covenant of Community Life of Providence College and Seminary.
  3. Minimum educational level: Preference is given to candidates with a Masters degree and a valid Class 5 Manitoba Driver's Licence.
  4. Familiarity with the programs offered by PC/PTS.
  5. Ability to work as a team member in the PC/PTS admissions office.
  6. Strong interpersonal skills. The strength of the Admissions Office is its ability to relate to students and future students, and make them feel welcome. This is a very "people-oriented" job, requiring a high level of empathy and an ability to work with confidential information.
  7. Strong organizational and detail management skills. A key component of the Director of Seminary Admissions' task is keeping accurate inquiry and admissions records.
  8. A high degree of personal initiative. Must be prepared to organize own schedule and work day.
  9. Good communication skills. The Director of Seminary Admissions must communicate, both verbally and in writing potential students, applicants, and personnel from other institutions.
  10. Ability to work well without daily supervision.
  11. A high degree of personal creativity. The Director of Seminary Admissions should demonstrate initiative and an ability to analyse problems and create innovative solutions within a nurturing environment.
  12. Customer service attitude. The Admissions Office seeks to serve the student as the institution's most important customer.
  13. Strong computer literacy within a Windows environment. Programs in use within the department include Microsoft Windows, Blackbaud's Student Information System, and Microsoft Office including Internet Explorer, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  14. Team-player attitude. The Director of Seminary Admissions works within the context of the Admissions Office, a group dedicated to the task of maintaining and enlarging the institution's enrollment and service to students.
  15. The ability to transport heavy admissions equipment for displays and other Admissions related events. (Boxes may weigh up to 70 pounds.)

Environment: The Director of Seminary Admissions works within the context of the Providence College and Theological Seminary Admissions Office, under the supervision of the Vice President for Student Services. This department is responsible for:

  • Working together with the PR department to market Providence College and Theological Seminary to future students
  • Soliciting and responding to inquiries from future students.
  • Processing applications from future students. · Maintaining the relationship between the institution and future students to the point of matriculation.
  • Enrolling new students in the institution. · Communications, both verbally and in writing, with inquiries, future students, applicants, and personnel from other institutions.
  • Serving the student as the institution's most important customer.
  • Other duties as assigned by Vice President for Student Services.

Work Arrangements: This is a full time managerial position with a 37.5 hour work week, which on occasion may require more than the regular 37.5 hours per work week. Regular business hours are 8:15 am - 4:30 pm, Monday­Friday (2 - 15 minute coffee breaks; 45 minutes for lunch).

  2. Job-related travel, away from the office approximately 10-20 % of the time.

  7. Annual evaluation by the Vice President for Student Services.

Salary and Benefits: Salary is negotiable, depending upon education and experience. The compensation package includes group life insurance, short and long term disability and accidental death and disability after 3 months employment. Flexible Health Benefits also commence after 3 months of employment. A corporate pension plan is optional after one year of employment with PC/PTS. Other benefits will be discussed with the Human Resources Department.
