Position Overview: Moody Bible Institute is seeking a Vice President & Dean of the Undergraduate School who will build on the historic strengths of the school to advance its mission of providing a Bible-centered education that enables students to know Christ and serve Him through His church. The ideal candidate is expected to present a record of personal and professional achievement, including (a) solid ministry experience, (b) significant organizational and leadership experience within higher education, and (c) an appropriate terminal degree. The ideal candidate will also possess the necessary skills to work collaboratively and effectively with faculty, students, staff, alumni, and other stakeholders. He or she will demonstrate understanding of, and dedication to, the school’s mission and character as a conservative evangelical/dispensational school focused on producing ministry practitioners. He or she will also embrace and champion the school’s development as a culturally diverse community.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • With the assistance of the faculty and other professional staff, develop and implement policies relating to faculty recruitment, appointment, retention, development, and promotion to build a strong, competent faculty who can accomplish the mission of Moody Bible Institute. This includes creating and implementing any new faculty requirements
  • Develop and implement a consistent faculty compensation program in conjunction with the Dean of the Faculty, Provost, and Human Resources
  • Prepare short- and long-range strategic plans for the Undergraduate School for the purpose of insuring the best possible utilization of the resources entrusted to the school
  • Prepare and supervise the preparation and oversight of all budget units within the Undergraduate School
  • With the cooperation of the Committee on Committee Management, appoint, direct, and receive reports from committees as needed to fulfill the mission of the Undergraduate School
  • With the Dean of the Faculty and the appropriate faculty committee, administer a fair and consistent faculty ranking system
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate the educational support staff, including the Dean of the Faculty, the Department Manager of Missionary Aviation Technology, the Administrator of PCM and Administrator – Solheim Center, and the Associate Dean of the Faculty – Spokane, and insure that the areas under their supervision are meeting the educational objectives assigned
  • Supervise, develop, and evaluate the Academic Chairs and insure the integrity of each instructional department
  • Prepare agendas and preside over Faculty and Academic Affairs Committee meetings
  • Participate in the processes required to secure and maintain accreditation by various agencies (ABHE, HLC of the NCA, NASM, ACSI) as assigned by the Provost
  • Teach on a regular basis to maintain currency in the classroom
  • Perform a variety of other administrative and leadership duties as assigned by the Provost and Dean of Education
  • Conduct research, prepare reports, and serve on committees as appropriate. Serve as a member of the Administrative Cabinet, the MBI Leadership Team, the Academic VPs Council, and the Deans Council
  • Maintain communication and coordination with the Graduate and Distance Learning programs relative to the educational programs of MBI
  • Work with the Dean of Admissions to develop promotional and recruitment programs necessary for the effective growth and continuation of the Undergraduate School, and work with the Registrar to develop the Undergraduate School catalog
  • Work with support departments, including the Learning Resource Center, Food Service, Treasury Operations, Student Development, Health Service, and Housing to ensure appropriate access to services for Undergraduate School students
  • Develop and oversee the educational integrity of the undergraduate courses and programs offered through extension sites and online electronically
  • Represent the Undergraduate School on campus and within the MBI corporate structure

  • Pastoral experience
  • A deep understanding of the culture of Moody Bible Institute and its need to balance academic excellence and theological soundness with practical ministry preparation
  • An ability to represent the needs and interests of the Undergraduate School across divisional and group lines
