ABHE's 63rd Annual Meeting

Mark your calendar and make it a budget priority to bring a team of trustees, administrators and key faculty members to ABHE’s 63rd Annual Meeting.

Dates: February 17-20, 2010
Location: Florida Hotel and Conference Center at the Florida Mall
Theme: Moving in Step with the Spirit and the Church

North America’s Bible college movement has served throughout the past century as both a catalyst for and expression of a spiritual movement of restoration, renewal, and redemptive reorientation. Our movement has mobilized generations of students transformed by the Word and the Spirit who took up their places at home and abroad in a global movement to spread the Good News and work the Good Works of the Coming Kingdom to the ends of the earth.

For more than a decade, however, research on the relationship between theological education and its constituent churches and ministry entities reveals that while many theological schools prepare students well in biblical scholarship and exposition they fail to help students develop theological perspective and ministry skills relevant to contemporary church leadership challenges and cultural realities. Notable church leaders have openly and dismissively criticized institutional biblical and theological education. Many churches and ministry organizations are taking direct responsibility to identify and train key ministry staff, bypassing formal theological schooling and ministry credentialing.

ABHE’s 63rd Annual Meeting will feature plenary speakers, a pre-convention workshop, and a special workshop track exploring the implications of ABHE members’ commitment to ensure that their educational offerings are pervasively and intentionally missional – vitally connected to churches who are stewards and mobilizers of an authentic conjunction of word and deed that announces the good news of reconciliation to God. Now more than ever we need to ensure that biblical higher education flows out of and into churches the Spirit of God is powerfully using to bring about the reconciliation and restoration of a lost and derelict humanity.

We are excited ... plan to be there!
